DC Digital Mini Reviews February 22th - 26th (Milestone Returns Infinite Edition #0, Represent! #5, Sensational Wonder Woman #8, Truth & Justice #8)

This week was very rich for DC digital firsts. We had the start of a new series, mini The Next Batman: Second Son (review is here). Then we had three installments of ongoings and one-shot Milestone Returns Infinite Edition #0.

Represent! (2020-) #5 (8/10)

This seems to be another autobiographical chapter in the anthology of real hero stories. Journalist and editor Tara Roberts is telling the story of little girl Taralynn who wants to be Wonder Woman. Main point of her story is one of the best ideas in good comics - that everyone can be a hero. There is also a very nice legend of black people incorporated.

Art by Yancey Labat is a little bit too childish for me here but if you liked Super Hero Girls or Adventure of the X-men where he illustrated a few issues, you will like it.

Sensational Wonder Woman #8 (8/10)

Conclusion of Corinna Sara Bechko´s and Dani Strips´s Sensation Wonder Woman story is beginning where the previous chapter ended. We will see a lot of action, one well known Diana´s villain and a lot of ice in this “adventure in cold”. Art by strips is still very good even if some colours (of some dialogues) I didn't like very much.

Truth & Justice #8 (8/10)

The middle chapter of John Contantine´s story in Truth & Justice is generally one big action scene. We will meet a big monster here, so it will be strong magic needed. John and Papa Midnite are cooperating, Alex is still not very capable of what is going on, all in very nice colors and illustrations. I´m very curious for next week conclusion

Milestone Returns Infinite Edition #0 (9/10)

Lots of readers wre waiting for Milestone Media revival for years. In August at DC Comics Fandome were finally presented some details about it. That it will start with Static digital series and then will be others. You were also able to read 17 pages of free comics Milestone Returns. And now it is all starting, with Milestone Returns Infinite Edition #0. It contains two big stories - “The Big Bang”, mentioned free comics and a few ads for the next Milestone series.

“The Big Bang” is not completely cohesive story, maily because of art. Very 90's style is mixing with modern art as it is drawn by Denys Cowan and CrisCross with various collaborators at ink and finishing. But all this Reginald Hudlin´s (Black Panther, X-men) story about afro-american protest in the city of Dakota which is ending with a bunch of superheroes and one big movement is very interesting and readable. Yow will like the heroes at the end.

Second story is mentioned as a free chapter readable during Fandome. It has art by Jim Lee, Denys Cowan, Bill Sienkiewicz and others what alone is worth spending some money on. The story is close look at heroes and teaser of upcoming stories.
