Pearls of Digital Comics:Jessica Jones: Blind Spot

This is a series of articles about the best titles in the history of digital comics. And this is the first article about Marvel comics on this site. House of Ideas had two big digital first initiatives - Infinite Comics and Marvel Digital Originals. This six digital chapter title started the later. It was then printed in three oversized printed issues and one TPB.

Private detective Jessica Jones was created by Brian Michael Bendis in the Marvel Max comic book Alias. Since she was a member of New and Mighty Avengers and Defenders, she had two series of her own TV Show and she married Luke Cage after being pregnant with him. Digital First series Jessica Jones: Blind Spot is starting here.

Jessica had client Dia Sloane who wanted her to investigate her boyfriend Jarred. After some time we´ve found some interesting facts about both of them. We met Doctor Strange, Spider-man, even Avengers, but only Strange is relevant for the story (and Mary Jane is a minor character). Main metaphor hidden after superpowers here is to admit the bad that everybody has inside, even if you can part it from you. In the first five digital chapters we have a very good story based on this.

This first story is beautifully illustrated by Mattia De Iulis. Mainly the characters' faces are very plastique and nice. I want to read more stories drawn by her.

Last chapter is a one-and-done story about Jessica´s and Luke´s daughter Dani´s birthday party. As usually there are few uninvited guests, some of them are not quite good. It's A very nice story with a lot of family feelings. I like that main story in this volume was not artificially stretched to six chapters and gave place for this. It is also clear that this last one couldn´t be written by Bendi. And I like cliffhanger which is a promising interesting story in the title “Jessica Jones: Purple Daughter”. I think I will write here about it after some time.
