DC Digital Mini Reviews March 8th - 12th (Represent! #7, The Next Batman: Second Son #3, Sensational Wonder Woman #10, Truth & Justice #10)

Another week with four issues as RWBY/Justice League crossover didn't start (it's still scheduled for March 30th, as is 2nd chapter). We have maybe the last Represent! chapter, conclusion of Amu Chu´s Wonder Woman storz and start of Jason Todd detective in Truth & Justice. Next week we have some nice return as “Challenge of the Super Sons” is back.

Represent! #7 (9/10)

Seventh chapter of this anthology is written by debut author Onyekachi Akalonu. He writes about Trayvon who is a young afro-american man not admitting his life and methods of how is white majority and police treat people around him. Like a lot of black boys in his age, he is absorbing his personal revolty to tags and graffiti. Story has clear messages about BLM. They are powered by black and white art of another debutant Valentine DeLandro. Colours are used in a few moments to magnify some details same way as you know it from Sin City). Overall, this is a very suggestive chapter.

There is no other chapter of Represent! planned for next week and in the DC announcement of continuation of the anthology before 2nd chapter there were only 7 issues mentioned. So we will see if there will be another chapters of this very good and for DC not so typical anthology.

The Next Batman: Second Son #3 (8/10)

Another chapter of Tim “Ace” Fox´s origin is starting with the aftermath of the bombing in Arkham Asylum. New GCPD is about to be formed. Then we see rest of Tim´s visit at home and we are exploring even deeper his relations with another family members. Pace is really not fast and I feel that this story needs some real story.

Sensational Wonder Woman #10 (9/10)

Second part of Amy Chu´s story is relieving some very interesting things from Kitie´s past and changing her life for the better. Bad people are defeated and good rewarded, how we like it. M.L. Sanapo´s art is maybe even more pleasurable than in the last issue.

We have some news about this title. In announcement about releases related to Dina´s 80th Anniversary DC relieved that this title will be printed in TPB in October. There will be six printed issues in Volume 1, so 12 digital chapters. Last part is starting next week, Sina Grace is writing it and a superb Paul Pelletier drawing.

Truth & Justice #10 (9/10)

After Vixen, Superman and John Constantine this anthology hosts Jason Todd, the second Robin and latter Red Hood. At first few pages we have short overview of his life from hist first meeting with Batman (seen in “Just Another Kid On Crime Alley!”) through his death (famous survey in “A Death in the Family) untill his return in “Under the Red Hood”. And then we are watching him and his friend before all this. Friend is found dead later and Jason, already as Red Hood, is starting investigation.

Jeff Trammel, known mainly as animation writer in projects like Craig of the Creek, present Jason’ s investigation as true detective story. I like his characterisation of the idea of true friendship, when Jason not hesitates a minute if to start investigation or not. Of course, then we have the Dark Knight himself and one of Batman's famous villains, but the hero is without question Jason. Chapter is ending with action scene and I’m very curious how story will go in another two parts.

DC is often choosing for this anthology pair of creators where one is experienced and one almost totally new to comics. This is Trammel's first comics (I think that not only) for DC, so he has as artist Rob Guillory, known from Chew or Thor. He has classic superhero art which I like very much.
