Feature: Three things DC digital comics needs

DC has a whole decade history of digital first comics. But after the recent April DC Digital First initiative, high profile series such as Sensational Wonder Woman or The Next Batman: Second Son, the publisher has to treat digital comics at the same level as printed issues. Three most needed changed for them are:

1. Format

Since Legends of Dark Knight vol.2 and digital Adventures of Superman, DC has been using tablet format format for digital comics. It is dividing the page for two halfs. One exception was April DC Digital First initiative where pages were the same as in printed comics and digital versions of printed comics. I think that after tablets become 10 inch we don´t need tablet format for digital comics. Also, all digital readers are reading digital versions of printed comics, mainly in good sales. So why bother with a special format?

2. Solicitations/schedule

Even two days ago was the anthology Represent! #3 scheduled for February at comixology. On January 25th were both Sensational Wonder Woman #4 and Truth & Justice &4 schedule for January 26th. All these issues changed release dates then. I think that DC has to publish solicitations or schedules of digital first comics at least month before month of publication. I know that normal solicitations are mainly for local shops and their orders but readers are using them too for planning of their purchases. It can be digital, at DC Universe Infinite or in digital magazine Dc Connect but we deserve it.

3. Major title(s)

As DCUI is launching and in a situation when not so many titles are selling more than 20 thousand copies, I think it's time for the launch of the first major title digitally. It can be Aquaman, Green Arrow or Martian Manhunter. It can be the same way as today´s digital first, printed every two or three chapters. Without it you will not know how strong digital titles can be.

Also, a good test can be selling anthologies which you are planning for Infinite Frontier first in digital chapters. Or titles with backup stories.
