DC Digital Mini Reviews March 1st - 5th (Represent! #6, The Next Batman: Second Son #2, Sensational Wonder Woman #9, Truth & Justice #9)

This was standard week with four issues. Amy Chu started a very good Sensation Wonder Woman story, The Next Batman: Second Son continued with Tim Fox origin, Constantine concluded in Truth & Justice and a little wonder is in Represent! anthology.

Next week we have to have apart from these titles one premiere, RWBY/Justice League crossover and I want to have a mini review on Tuesday when it has to be released. But I can´t find any mention about it anywhere now. Comixology has release date for first and second issue March 30th. So we will see on Mandoay or Tuesday.

Represent! #6 (9/10)

This week's chapter of anthology of everyday heroes is about one of bigger issues for children and young adults: bullying at school. Young boy Dom is not so fast or strong so few boys from neughborhoosÅ› village are doing with him what they want. He finds some power and starts to train in the gym. By accident he finds a trainer who taught him not only how to fight and be strong physically, but also about discipline and mental fitness. And with few right steps commes another. This is really storry which deserves bigger space, it can be interesting to know something about Dom´s fate and adultery.

Story is written and beautifully drawn by Dominike "Domo" Stanton (yes, it seems that also this story is autobiographical to some point) who you can know from some Sandman Universe stories. He is another big talent in DC´s sleeve.

The Next Batman: Second Son #2 (8/10)

Origin of Tim “Jace” Fox, who will be the next Batman, continues with his arrival home. You will see his meets with the rest of family and while it does not start so bad, nexts meets are worse and worse until full disappointment of his sister Tanya. On the outside, there is new GCPD under Renee Monotya forming which is forced by Mayor Nakano to be an anti-superheroes unit. All and all, the progress is very slow here, John Ridley has a lot of time and space for a long story. Art by Tony Akins and Travel Foreman is full of classic superhero sharp lines, so you are feeling familiar during reading

Sensational Wonder Woman #9 (8.5/10)

We had a few chapters about children in these title and a few about old Diana’ s villains. This new two-parter is different. Main hero is old woman Katie, who was saved by Diana during WW2. But she had really big trouble now.

Story is written by Amy Chu who is known from Red Sonja, Kiss or some not-prominent Marvel titles. It’s based on dialogues, without captions, even in Katie’s monologue you find some flashback dialogues. It’s with really good action.

Art by M.L. Sanapo (D.C.Bombshells, Vampirella) is very detailed and nice. Retro military pages are drawn in familiar style which we know from 40’s comic books. And if you know Wonder Woman, Diana’ s entry has special value - it's a direct homage to the first issue of the title Wonder Woman.

I’m looking forward for conclusion of Katie’ s story

Truth & Justice #9 (8.5/10)

Last part of Constantine's story here is full of action and we also have classic John´s fight with magic and will. But more interesting than antagonist Papa Midnite is young Alex who can be a sorcerer one time. It can be nice if Danny Lore will return to him after some time.

Ray-Anthony Height is listed as co-ilustrator with Adriana Melo, but seems that as in last issue, only Melo was drawing this issue and Height´s illustration we can see only in first Constantine chapter in Truth & Justice #7. Melo´s very detailed again and divided mirror with a lot of people and monsters is peace of art.

Next Friday in Truth & Justice is the beginning of the story about Jason Todd.
