Mini Review: Sensational Wonder Woman #1 (8.5/10)

DC Comics started the new year with few digital series. First of them was   Sensational Wonder Woman.

It is the successor to Wonder Woman: Agent of Piece, part of their Digital First initiative, which ended in December. It is also spiritual continuation of other digital first series, Sensation Comics featuring Wonder Woman, which run in 2014 - 2015. Weekly 51 digital chapters was printed in 17 issues and then collected in three TPBs. They were out of continuity of the mainstream DC Universe.

Same principles are set for Sensational Wonder Woman. It will be weekly, out of continuity, with every two chapters collected in print issue (this is a small difference, Sensation Comics had collected three issues in print, so it was a bigger space for story) and then collected in printed collection. First two chapters were written by Stephanie Phillips, who recently wrote Harley Quinn issue of Future Stare event and will be writer of new Harley series from March 2021. It was illustrated by Meghan Hetrick, known from a few Vertigo and Marvel series.

As in the majority of first issues, there is not much of a story. Itś solid preparation for the climax in the second chapter. It´s starting with 1950s utopia for classic conservationists - Diana is house wife, preparing all the things for husband, washing dishes and so on. With the first distraction goes the second plan with Wonder Woman laying in some lab orh medical apartment. Issue is ending with little cliffhanger for next issue

Writing of the series is clean, in small dialogues, without any captions. All the dynamics is in dialogues and images. Illustrations are a little bit not detailed, but with a very nice change from 50s to present and interesting transformation of Diana. I´ve just wanted that there will be a little bit more, events and images.
